What a milestone to reach – our MD and the man behind the business John Krause has just turned 60, and there certainly ain’t no stopping him!
John began his career with Diespeker way back when he was just 17 – an amazing 43 years that has seen many changes in the company, but always with a commitment to championing the beauty of natural stone and terrazzo.
In recent years, John has steered Diespeker to greater heights, showing that with age comes even more determination and drive. We are so proud to be widely known as the ‘go-to’ experts and innovators in our field. None of it would be possible without John’s huge enthusiasm and desire to keep on breaking the mould.
Of course, we can’t ignore John’s other commitment – to competitive races. Since 2000, he’s taken part in 168 marathons, triathlons and Ironman contests around the world, even proudly representing GB. Occasionally he says maybe it’s time to stop, and the lockdown has temporarily brought such events to a halt… but we suspect he’ll be signing up for the next race as soon as he can.
John celebrated his milestone birthday at the office with the team and was totally bowled over by the cake made by local cake maker Natalie Sansom. It was a stunning (and very tasty) representation of a Diespeker van in its eye-catching livery – John’s personal favourite terrazzo TE007, of course!
From everyone at Diespeker, happy 60th birthday John. We can’t wait to see what you do next.
“Fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run.”
A very pertinent quote for ‘marathon man’ John from Rudyard Kipling.
