Amy shortlisted for Award at Young Furniture Makers Exhibition

Earlier this year we spoke to young designer Amy Buchanan, who had created a piece of furniture using our terrazzo.

At the time Amy was studying Furniture and Product Design at Nottingham Trent and as part of her course, made a freestanding kitchen larder. She used terrazzo TE007 for the worktop, which worked well with her other materials, Farrow and Ball Red Earth paint, reclaimed birch plywood and matt black hardware.

Amy has now finished her course, and we were delighted to hear from her again recently, especially when she told us the news that her larder has been shortlisted for the Bespoke award at the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition.

The exhibition takes place on Wednesday 9 October from 12.00pm – 9.00pm at the Furniture Makers’ Hall, in the City of London. It’s a showcase for the very best furniture and furnishing design talent from GCSE students to young professionals and offers industry the opportunity to connect with young, creative designer-makers, who are looking to make an impact on the sector.

The prize-giving takes place in the evening, after a welcome by Dids Macdonald OBE, Master of the Furniture Makers’ Company. We would like to wish Amy the very best of luck with her larder, and another of her projects, which is shortlisted for an Innovation award.

Entry to the exhibition is free, with registration via Eventbrite: https://www.furnituremakers.org.uk/events/young-furniture-makers-exhibition-2019/
