Book matching for Asics leads to Big Apple export

A project to supply and install book matched marble cladding for a popular sportswear brand in London has resulted in an export contract for Diespeker & Co.

The original project was for Asics flagship store in Regent Street, using book matched marble to create a stunning backdrop. The innovative new store is state of the art, and includes a robotic delivery system, MotionID stations and interactive product education technology. There is even a juice bar and DJ booth.

Diespeker’s book matched marble has been used for cladding and displays, including backing the sportswear brand’s range of sports shoes.

The design was so well received that Asics wanted to use the same for two of its stores in New York on 14th Street and Broadway. for cladding and main display.

Diespeker cut sheets from the same block as we used for Regent Street and 40 were sent to New York. The project required pre-drilled holes for the display supports. The stone has to be handled with total care, as breaking even one panel would spoil the stunning book matched pattern.

Diespeker handled the sourcing, packaging and delivery of the prepared stone to the States.

Project value: £35K (Regent Street supplied and fixed)
Export value: £80K
