China calling – in more ways than one!

With Diespeker now importing specialist glass from China, MD John Krause found himself drawn to visit the country – for a marathon, of course!

John took part in the China Coast Marathon in Hong Kong, which became part of China in 1997.

The race started and finished at Pak Tam Chung, taking place on the service roads at High Island Reservoir: Sai Kung Man Yee road and Sai Kung Sai Wan road. Usually road races are fairly level, but John says this one had a large number of hills. But the scenery was spectacular, as the race was around the coastline.

Sporting bib number 661, John achieved 50th position out of 500, 8th in his category, another amazing result. His time was 3:46:37.

This was John’s 127th marathon − so we’re wondering, where in the world will be marathon 128!
