Diespeker at London Design Week 2026

Terrazzo Mastery Takes Centre Stage at London Design Week

London Design Week 2026 brought a vibrant buzz to Chelsea Harbour with 30+ pop up ‘house guests’ offering knowledge and inspiration. At the elegant Jason D’Souza showroom, Diespeker’s Senior Sales Manager Sydney Robertson spoke to designers, architects and interiors specialists keen to hear about the evolving world of terrazzo in contemporary interiors.

A fresh look at terrazzo in modern design
In his talk, Marble and Terrazzo in Modern Interiors, Sydney delved into the shifting trends shaping high‑end interior design.

He highlighted how terrazzo has moved far beyond the familiar, traditional styles, becoming a medium for bold creativity and bespoke craftsmanship as today’s designers embrace terrazzo as a way to balance aesthetic ambition with artisanal skill.

Sydney brought with him a selection of bespoke samples created by Diespeker’s in‑house team. These included a terrazzo incorporating pebbles and stones recovered from mudlarking along the Thames, and a striking hotel floor design featuring large marble offcuts, demonstrating how waste materials can be elevated into luxury finishes.

Each sample showcased the breadth of what’s possible when imagination meets craftsmanship.

Sustainability at the forefront
Sydney also touched on the growing appetite for sustainable materials. He shared examples such as terrazzo made with broken recycled glass, used to create countertops for several Heineken HQs across the UK and Europe, and Rubblazzo, Diespeker’s own innovative product that repurposes waste from London construction sites into distinctive, characterful surfaces.

These projects underline Diespeker’s commitment to responsible design without compromising on beauty or performance.

Craftsmanship and creative possibilities
Attendees were given insight into the processes behind the craft, from laying intricate flooring designs in situ to the ability to precast unusual or quirky shapes. Sydney also explained how Diespeker ensures creative continuity across projects requiring matched flooring and cladding, referencing the recent refurbishment of Panzer’s Delicatessen, where this expertise proved invaluable.

The talk wrapped up with a lively Q&A, with guests keen to explore future possibilities for terrazzo in their own projects. Many stayed to examine the samples more closely and left with copies of Diespeker’s latest magazine, packed with commercial and residential case studies.

With glasses of fizz in hand and plenty of conversation flowing, the event proved both informative and inspiring. A huge thank you to the team at Jason D’Souza for hosting, and to Sydney for delivering such an engaging and insightful presentation.
