We’ve been busy giving a makeover to our range of porcelain tiles, introducing updated contemporary design options for commercial and residential clients.
While we have always offered porcelain as an option for floors and walls, the creative team agreed a fresh look was needed. The result is a collection of handpicked tiles offering a mixture of strong and subtle terrazzo designs, which we feel reflects our dominance of this market in the UK.
Unlike traditional terrazzo, which is a combination of marble chippings and cement or resin, the porcelain style terrazzo is actually printed on to the tile. Although the material doesn’t have the exact appearance of terrazzo, it offers a number of benefits including durability; as porcelain tiles are heated at high temperatures the result is a rigid material impenetrable to moisture. In addition:
- Porcelain is a lightweight material
- It has a thin profile
- It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and adverse weather conditions
- As it is non-slip, it can be used for pools and other wet areas
- It doesn’t stain
- It is available in three finishes: polished, honed and non-slip
Of the eight tiles currently available to order, three are based on Diespeker’s popular standard terrazzo designs; TE007, TE014 and TE069. The tiles are only 10mm thick and there are four practical sizes offering versatility for a wide variety of wall or floor projects.
We’re very excited about the opportunities presented by these terrazzo effect porcelain tiles. With a thinner profile and non-slip properties, the tiles open up additional design possibilities for our clients – including mix and match with our real terrazzo.
Future plans for the new range of porcelain include the creation of more designs based on other styles of terrazzo. To view the range and order samples, click here.
