MD John raises thousands for stem4
Congratulations to Diespeker MD John Krause who successfully completed the TCS London Marathon 2026. This was his 235th marathon!
John ran an impressive time of 03:47:38 and performed credibly in his 65-69 age group field – but he’s a youngster compared to the oldest participants: Harry Newton, 88 and Maria Rivera, 86.
Race winners: Fastest on the day was the amazing Sebastian Sawe, the first athlete ever to run a sub-two-hour marathon 01:59:50. Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa broke her own world record and won her second consecutive London Marathon with a time of 2:15:40 seconds. In the wheelchair race, Marcel Hug captured his eighth men’s title in 1:24:13 and Catherine Debrunner claimed victory in the women’s wheelchair race achieving 1:38:29 and her fourth London win.
Charity fundraisers: Thousands of runners raise money for charity, John included. Running with the 100 Marathon Club, John was raising funds for our long-term supported charity, stem4. He initially set a target of £2,000 – but has risen to £3,385.
Amongst celebrity fundraisers John may have passed on the day was Daddy Pig from the Peppa Pig family, who completed the race in 05:51:53, running in aid of the National Deaf Children’s Society and singer Alexandra Burke, running for Parkinson UK in 04:25:03.
