How Diespeker marble was used for a film set

Diespeker marble ‘features’ in hit Netflix series Man vs Baby

Back in 2024, Diespeker was approached by Graphic Art Director Lee Gray with a very unusual request.

Lee was working on the set for the Netflix series Man vs Baby, starring Rowan Atkinson. The film, which finds a school caretaker taking a lost baby with him on a house-sit for billionaires over Christmas, features a luxurious £50M penthouse apartment in Mayfair, with opulent marble throughout.

But rather than use real marble, the idea was to recreate the illusion of the stone throughout the set. And what Lee needed from Diespeker was the opportunity to come to the factory and take high quality photographs of different marbles to use in the creation of the home.

Our Senior Sales Manager Sydney Robertson agreed to the request, and Lee duly visited Diespeker, where the team moved slabs of marble around to give him access to a variety of marble types.

Man vs Baby was released at Christmas 2025 and our MD John Krause found himself ‘marble-spotting’. He saw plenty of grey-veined Statuario marble throughout the apartment, and Nero Portoro in the kitchen. It all looks incredibly realistic!

We also spotted that some of Man vs Baby was filmed at Panzers, the iconic delicatessen in St John’s Wood that we created a stunning bespoke pink terrazzo for, in celebration of its 80^th anniversary.

Although the festive season is over, Man vs Baby is a feel-good film that will bring a smile to everyone’s face. Well worth a viewing – and keep a look out for that marble!
