Keeping up with industry trends
Insights from Marmomac 2025
This September, MD John Krause attended the Marmomac exhibition in Verona.
This annual event is said to be “the most important world fair dedicated to the entire stone production chain, from the quarry to the processed product, from technologies and machinery to tools.”
Held at the Verona Exhibition Centre, the exhibition spans an incredible 12 halls and 8 outdoor arenas, exhibiting in four key areas: machinery/equipment; tools and chemicals; marble, natural stone & design; blocks and unhewn stone.
This was a chance for John to link up and cement relationships with existing suppliers, our transport and import partners, as well as establish new connections. He was interested to learn about what’s on trend, current price structures and thoughts on where it is deemed better to be importing products from. John was particularly interested in sourcing engineered stone manufactured as a terrazzo ‘lookalike’ for clients looking for the most resilient option for stone worktops.
Whilst there, John looked at the latest in machinery and saw the Denver Vision X in action, a grinding machine that is due to be installed in Diespeker’s factory soon. Vision X offers a variety of finishes: honed, polished, bush hammered, antiqued and leathered. He also checked out the Biesse Stone Master Cut Go CME bridge saw ordered for installation in early 2026.
At the exhibition, John met up with Jeroen van den Berg from Duracryl; they discussed the development or our collaboration for Durabella, Duracryl’s poured terrazzo which uses a proprietary chemical-free biopolymer and is Diespeker’s preferred material for the production of non-standard poured and precast resin terrazzo (for more info read Diespeker aims for greater sustainability with new collaboration – Diespeker & Co).
He had discussions with Santa Margherita about stocking their top ten terrazzo designs and with Antolini Marble regarding upcoming marble-based projects. A nice bonus for John was enjoying a helicopter ride over Verona, courtesy of Antolini.
Marmomac stats
