John’s London Marathon hiccup – but fundraising target smashed!

A huge congratulations to Diespeker MD John Krause for completing his 223rd marathon at the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April.

We are delighted to report that John not only smashed his initial fundraising target of £3,000, his second target of £3,500 was also blown apart as a flurry of last minute donations took him to him to just over £4,100!

John was planning to run the marathon in a sub-4 hour finish but this time it was not to be! He was well on track at the halfway stage with 1 hour 49 minutes but at just over 24 miles in he suffered an acute bout of cramp. This found John lying on the floor in agony for around an hour. But he was not to be beaten. He managed to get back into the race and finished with a time of 4:57:18.

We are in awe of his determination to keep going where many would just give up.
And of course, John being John, just the very next day he was running to work once more through the streets of London!

There’s still time to donate and help support teenage mental health charity stem4 to continue its vital work offering free support to help thousands of young people manage anxiety, self-harm, depression and eating disorders across the UK every single day, whilst also learning to build resilience and become safe online.

And John, we all hope that your next marathon run is less painful!
