As an expert supplier of marble, stone and terrazzo surface products, we feel it’s important to keep abreast of trends and innovations in the sector. So MD John Krause, Senior Sales Manager Sydney Robertson and Sales Ahmed Bougrinat visited the Surface Design Show 2025 at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
There were around 180 stands displaying the very best ideas in ceramic tiles, glass, wallcoverings, decorative paints and coatings, wood, brick and much more.
As we strive to make our own business more sustainable, it was inspiring to see what other companies are doing in terms of sustainable, ethical products and designs. Many stands displayed statements on sustainable aims, and quite a few products featured laudable credentials for recycling, reusing and repurposing.
On that note, we caught up with Beal International, who supplied the binding for our Rubblazzo product, which reuses London construction rubble to create a unique outside surface.
We stopped to chat with Foresso, who make an unusual terrazzo made of waste wood sourced from trees felled in Britain. An interesting and laudably sustainable business – as lovers of all things terrazzo, we’re pleased to hear of their success.
There were plenty of marble businesses in evidence from around the world, including Italian company Margraf who we worked with several decades ago. Collaboration is key to ensure we can deliver the best quality and we felt this was a great contact to reignite a relationship with, particularly for complicated marble projects.
Another interesting discussion with luxury fabric business Jason D’Souza who were at the show with one of their distributor brands, Sibu Design. There’s something exciting in the pipeline in its fabric line range that we hope to team up with them on, so watch this space.
Interestingly, we felt, there wasn’t a huge amount of terrazzo in evidence, quite surprising in light of the number of projects we’ve secured so far for 2025.
All in all it was good to join over 6,000 visitors and get an overview of the many surface options available in the market. Perhaps we’ll see you there next year!
