Terrazzo splashback for Victorian townhouse

Bury St Edmunds kitchen designers K2B turned to Diespeker for terrazzo for a recent redesign that called for something contemporary.

The project was for a client in Ipswich, Suffolk, who wanted the kitchen in their Victorian town house completely revamped. The brief was for something contemporary that would still sit well with the design of the house.

Initially the idea was for a smart Shaker style kitchen, but as the design developed the client came across terrazzo and was won over by the material.

K2B Kitchen Designer Barbara Starkey says “The terrazzo complemented the other details in the kitchen such as the pink tongue and groove bench and Bay Green kitchen cabinetry so well it had to be used!”

As the kitchen is a relatively large space, it could easily carry a striking terrazzo pattern. Samples were ordered from Diespeker and the terrazzo picked out was TE084A. This resin terrazzo has a neutral base, with a mixture of green, orange, terracotta, brown and white chippings generously spaced.

The terrazzo was used for the splashbacks and a mitred shelf over the hob, giving a focal point in the room that also complemented the pinks, greens and wood surfaces in the design.

Barbara adds that working with Diespeker was a positive experience. For this project, Diespeker worked on a supply only basis.
