Diespeker terrazzo and marble features in a stunning restaurant makeover carried out by Finkernagel Ross. The restaurant, Italians, is in Braunchsweig, North Central Germany.
Finkernagel Ross’s overall concept was to offer an ‘immersive culinary journey’, with a cosy taverna, elegant wine bar, rustic trattoria and relaxed reception area all offering an individual ambience. The concept was for fast-casual, yet meticulously designed, surpassing traditional expectations of similar restaurants. Design inspiration was taken from the golden age of Italian style and culture, blending nostalgia with modernity and comfort.
The inherited space of the previous restaurant tenant was expansive, presenting a challenge to the aim of creating an intimate atmosphere. However, the Finkernagel Ross team rose to the occasion, using differentiated zones within the restaurant to accommodate both fast-casual dining as well as cosy dine-in experiences.
Diespeker provided several elements for the makeover, including a stunning Calacatta Verde marble bar counter and table tops. This particular marble offers a pure white background streaked with delicate grey veining and green shades. The attractively curved bar is central to the restaurant, and the countertop features an attractive double bullnose edge.
In addition, Diespeker supplied further table tops in colourful terrazzo TE081 with unusual wood edging. The earthy tones of this terrazzo proved an ideal partner for the rust-orange bespoke seating. Our neighbours in Bermondsey, Kaymet made the unusual table trays from the same terrazzo design.
Diespeker also created attractive bathroom vanity units in our striking, green-toned TE107. The design included circular cutouts for the sinks, two for each unit.
The whole project took around six months to complete since when it has become a popular choice for both locals and tourists to visit to soak up the ambience and enjoy authentic tastes of Italy.
Italians was completed in June 2023 and is a finalist in the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2024 (Fast Casual category)
