Diespeker loves Tranquil Dawn

Dulux has announced its ‘colour of the year’, a colour chosen by the company’s colour experts to help us all transform our homes for 2020. The colour is called Tranquil Dawn, which sounds extremely relaxing to us! The shade is, they say, inspired by the morning sky and is versatile enough to be used in a variety of spaces. It’s a perfect colour intro for the next decade.  We see […]

Amy shortlisted for Award at Young Furniture Makers Exhibition

Earlier this year we spoke to young designer Amy Buchanan, who had created a piece of furniture using our terrazzo. At the time Amy was studying Furniture and Product Design at Nottingham Trent and as part of her course, made a freestanding kitchen larder. She used terrazzo TE007 for the worktop, which worked well with her other materials, Farrow and Ball Red Earth paint, reclaimed birch plywood and matt black

The Sound of Diespeker!

We’re used to receiving unusual requests at Diespeker, but in general these are related to our terrazzo and natural stone; for example, someone looking to borrow material for photography or filming. A recent request from artists Oliver Koch and James Wignall, however, was very different. Oliver and James were working on a sound performance piece for the London Festival of Architecture. They told us that the focus of their piece

We’re not ribbing you!

Our ongoing relationship with WeWork has led to experimentation in design techniques for terrazzo. WeWork has been using a ‘ribbed’ effect in wood in some of its office projects. Diespeker has been investigating how to create a similar effect in terrazzo using moulding techniques to create an eye-catching design. This new style of terrazzo could be used for the front face of a counter, providing a unique and unusual façade

Q&A with Will Yates-Johnson, Designer of Night and Day bench for the Science Museum

In 2017, Diespeker was proud to be instrumental in the creation of a bench designed by Will Yates-Johnson for London’s renowned Science Museum. Here we chat to Will about the project. Hi Will. Can you tell us a bit about your background? My father is a dedicated shed-workshop guru, and I’ve always been a disciple of designing and making, despite a detour to study architecture at Nottingham, where I missed
