Brave Ground for 2021

The Colour of the Year from Dulux for 2021 is Brave Ground, a ‘warm, natural neutral’. It has been chosen as a colour that reflects the mood for taking stock and finding a positive way forward. Dulux calls it an ‘enabling and stabilizing’ colour. At first glance, it may not be the most inspiring colour, but here at Diespeker, we’re big fans! That’s because we love neutrals for wall colours, […]

Sunny side up!

When client Christina Eriksson wanted a table top for her new coffee table, she visited the Diespeker showroom to find inspiration – and fell in love with one of our newest resin terrazzo options, the striking green and white TE112. Christina had a very clear idea about the shape of the table, which she wanted to be rather like an egg. Not an oval – an egg! Our very own

The ‘sample’ lady

As with many during lockdown, we’ve been reminiscing and looking back on previous work we’ve completed. In this retrospective, we take a look at a floor we created in 2018 for interior designer Tamzin Greenhill. Tamzin will be forever remembered at Diespeker for her dedication to getting it right! She wanted a bespoke, seamless floor for her basement room and knew exactly where to find it. Tamzin was already aware

Introducing Diespeker Terrazzo Palladiana

We’re pleased to say that the demand and interest in terrazzo remains strong. The latest development is a renewed interest in Palladiana terrazzo, an offshoot of more traditional terrazzo. The Diespeker bespoke terrazzo team has been inspired by an influx of projects based around the striking concept. What is Palladiana, what’s the difference to regular terrazzo? With roots firmly fixed in terrazzo used in ancient Rome, it is named after

Mosaic flooring hasn’t gone down the pan!

Diespeker was recently involved in the refurbishment of two toilet floors, at Bexleyheath and Falconwood stations. Maybe not the most glamorous job we’ve undertaken, but a fascinating reminder of our history with mosaic flooring. One of the earliest examples of our work is the Roman Cube mosaic created for the National Portrait Gallery in 1896, still at the entrance to the building to this very day! The mosaic floors in

Our lockdown competition winning design – plus three more!

Launched in early April, Diespeker’s ‘lockdown’ competition proved popular with budding designers in the UK and overseas who jumped at the chance to come up with a bespoke terrazzo to be used for a side table. Entries used a variety of imaginative objects, from pencil shavings to shells and abalone. Diespeker MD, John Krause judged the entries along with Emily Murray from The Pink House who has used the company’s

You’ve got to hand it to Diespeker

The range of door handles will be manufactured at Diespeker’s workshops in South East London. They can be made in any of our natural stones or terrazzo designs giving the opportunity to match any of our countertops, flooring or even splashbacks, allowing a beautifully refined finish to any

Showcasing limestone from Portland

Diespeker is known for collaborating with specialist suppliers overseas including Italy, Greece and China. However, as a British company, we have also been looking at working more closely with homegrown suppliers too. We’ve recently started stocking Portland stone, a quintessentially British material from Dorset in the beautiful West Country. Portland stone is an oolitic limestone from the late Jurassic period – it’s impossible to put an exact date on its

Diespeker loves Tranquil Dawn

Dulux has announced its ‘colour of the year’, a colour chosen by the company’s colour experts to help us all transform our homes for 2020. The colour is called Tranquil Dawn, which sounds extremely relaxing to us! The shade is, they say, inspired by the morning sky and is versatile enough to be used in a variety of spaces. It’s a perfect colour intro for the next decade.  We see
