We were delighted to see two London restaurants using bespoke celebrated in the recent GQ Magazine Food and Drink Awards. Sri Lankan restaurant Kolamba in Soho won the top award for Best Interior. Carlo Scarpa resurfaces!

Some years ago now, Diespeker worked on a project for Andy Martin Architecture, creating a bespoke terrazzo with glass inset for specific sections of the restaurant Fucina’s floor. The creative was inspired by flooring designed by architect Carlo Scarpa in the Olivetti Showroom in St Mark’s Square, Venice; mosaic tiles in a variety of colours give the impression of moving water. Fast forward to 2021, and we were contracted to

Sweet Terrazzo treats!

We’re celebrating two big birthdays this year – Diespeker’s 140th year as a natural stone and terrazzo specialist, and MD John Krause’s ‘not’ 60th. John’s landmark birthday was actually in June 2020, but the celebrations were less extensive than they should have been due to Covid restrictions. This year, within the current guidelines, John celebrated with family and friends in the gardens of his Wimbledon home. 2021 is the company’s

Lockdown terrazzo design competition update 2021

Amazingly it’s a year since we ran our ‘terrazzo lockdown competition’, which challenged people to come up with an original terrazzo design. We have been working on some of the winning and runners-up designs, although these have had to be squeezed in between our commercial and residential bespoke terrazzo work. Of course we’ve also had two further lockdowns with their varying restrictions. However, we’re delighted to say that one of

Read all about it!

We are delighted to announce that we’ve now published our second magazine, celebrating all things terrazzo and natural stone. We’ve been putting this together during the second and third lockdowns – one way of keeping us out of trouble! It’s been said that print is dead, but here at Diespeker we beg to differ. Over the past year many people have relearned how important it is to take time over
